Resolved Question: I am possibly moving to a new city, any advice?

I may be moving soon to a city in which I will know one person and his family. It's Abilene, Texas and I'm from Amarillo, Texas. Any advice? I'm probably going to be working for police or sheriff dept in some way, and I will probably be in an apartment for a while.
